Imitation: Vanilla Ice Vs. Queen

Imitation requires immense calculation, so much in fact that you hinder your own process. Once you attempt to imitate the nature of a thing you limit what you can achieve by removing an essential piece of the original. You further hinder yourself by attempting to jam yourself into the hole that was left. The problem is that the hole was not created for you. The hole you created was meant to be filled by another and all you are left with are 3 truths. 1. The imitation will always be limited by the hole that you have created. 2. With that limitation there will never be continued creation, you will always be limited by the original. 3. Without creation the idea will grow stagnant and bear no further fruit.

Be yourself. There is no need to imitate. Remember that the next time your looking at a fad diet, a celebrity exercise make-over, or a workout program that was not made with you in mind.

Everything is a nail to a hammer.

I often have clients that note how hands on and detail oriented I am with their exercises. Many times we stop before the first rep because they are setting themselves up in the same pattern that has caused them such discomfort to begin with. Short circuiting that set up cycle plays a definitive part in REFIT's training. You see pain and discomfort often come from something being used improperly.  Let us assume at this point  there is no pain in your nose. Take a breath in and let it back out through your nose. Pain free? Good that is a lovely sign that you are using your nose the way that it was intended to be used.  Now if you take your nose/ face and start using it to pound nails into wood you will feel pain in your nose and face.  If you stop and take a look at the nail you will see that it has not been driven very far into the wood and now your face hurts.   Because your nose is intended for breathing not carpentry.  The same can be said for the rest of the body. When it is used correctly and in the way it was intended to be used it should be balanced, pain free, and effective. When used incorrectly well you are driving nails with your nose.

Are they really setbacks?

Setbacks in life  are less about the starting over but the belief that the energy we have spent was wasted. So many clients say "if I had only done this ............. instead I would have succeeded."

I usually answer with "so why aren't you doing that now?  Have you died and I did not notice? "

( Go ahead,  check and make sure you have a pulse. I will be here when you get back.) :)

I ask you, in the wide scope of the world was it really a setback or merely a refocusing of your energy and time?

So many of our difficulties and setbacks are often exposed as less than they are  because with one small success the world is suddenly all right again and our troubles are lessened. We refocus our energies  and new possibilities immediately begin to rise up to meet us.

Consider this the next time you experience a setback whether it is in your training, your home, or your life.  View it less as a setback and more of a stepping stone to the future.
